Silvertips Fall in First Pre-Season Match Up

Everett, WA - The Vancouver Giants were able to keep the Silvertips at bay by holding on to a 2-1 victory in the 3rd Annual Everett Silvertips Pre-Season Tournament at the Everett Events Center on Friday night. With the loss, the Silvertips fall to 0-1 in the pre-season.
Giants forward, David Rutherford tallied both goals for the Giants in the win. Vancouver netminder Tommy Tartaglione made 11 saves on 12 Everett shots for the win. The Silvertips, who played a younger line up in their first pre-season test, received great goaltending by Shane Barrie and Chris Ward who both combined to make 38 saves on 40 Vancouver shots. Forward Tyler Eskesen tallied the lone Silvertips goal in the loss.
The Vancouver Giants out shot the Silvertips by a margin of 40-12. Everett went 0 for 9 on the power play and Vancouver went 1 for 14 on the extra man advantage. Earlier at the Silvertips Pre-Season Tournament, the Seattle Thunderbirds defeated the Portland Winter Hawks 11-1 and the Spokane Chiefs downed the Kamloops Blazers 5-2.
The 3rd Annual Everett Silvertips Pre-Season Tournament will continue on Saturday with three games. The Silvertips will play their next pre-season event against the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday night at the Everett Events Center. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.
