Photo by Chris Mast AMERICANS SHUT DOWN SILVERTIPS – Eric Comrie turned in a 35-save performance to record his first shutout of the season as the visiting Tri-City Americans blanked the Everett Silvertips 2-0 in Western Hockey League action on Wednesday.
Malte Stromwall – with his fourth goal of the season – and Jordan Messier scored for the Americans (2-3-0-0), who were outshot 35-22 in the contest and 18-4 in the third period, alone.
Austin Lotz turned aside 20 of 22 shots he faced in a losing cause for the Silvertips (1-3-0-1), who were blanked on five power play chances on the night.

Colton Sissons scored twice and set up two more as the Kelowna Rockets shut out the visiting Vancouver Giants 7-0 on Wednesday.
Jordon Cooke made 28 saves to claim his first career WHL shutout for the Rockets (2-2-1-0), who tallied twice in the first period before exploding for five goals in the third period. Madison Bowey scored twice and picked up an assist while Myles Bell, Filip Vasko and Tyson Baillie also counted in the win.
Liam Liston stopped 21 of 28 shots he faced to take the loss for the Giants (1-4-0-0), who have surrendered 23 goals over their first five outings this season.

Brett Cote scored the winner 3:04 into overtime as the Victoria Royals rallied for a 4-3 victory over the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers on Wednesday.
Brandon Magee and Alex Gogolev each picked up a goal and an assist while Jamie Crooks – with his first of the season – also scored for the Royals (4-1-0-0), who overturned a 3-0 deficit en route to their fourth win in five games this season. Patrik Polivka made 14 saves on 17 shots to post the win.
Trevor Cox scored twice and Hunter Shinkaruk also counted for the Tigers (3-1-1-0), who see a three-game winning streak come to an end. Marek Langhamer made 26 saves in a losing cause.

Matt Dumba scored his first goal of the season and Matt Bellerive drew three assists as the visiting Red Deer Rebels downed the Saskatoon Blades 5-3 on Wednesday.
Brandon Underwood, Joel Hamilton, Cory Millette and Tyson Ness also scored for the Rebels (2-3-0-1), who allowed the game’s opening goal but scored the next four en route to their second win in three games. Patrik Bartosak made 32 saves to record his first win of the season.
Darren Dietz, Nick Zajac and Dalton Thrower scored for the Blades (2-3-0-0), who went 1-for-7 on the power play in the contest. Andrey Makarov made 24 saves in the defeat.

Morgan Klimchuk scored his fourth and fifth goals of the season as the Regina Pats skated to a 4-1 win over the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors on Wednesday.
Adam Rossignol and Lane Scheidl also scored for Regina (2-4-0-0), which connected for three goals on five power play chances in the game. Matt Hewitt made 22 saves to claim his second win of the season.
