OIL KINGS TAKE ON RAIDERS – Curtis Lazar and the Edmonton Oil Kings (3-1-0-0) welcome Mark McNeill and the Prince Albert Raiders (3-0-0-1) for the lone Western Hockey League match-up on Thursday night.
The Oil Kings dropped a 4-1 decision to the visiting Calgary Hitmen on Friday night, snapping a 14-game regular-season winning streak dating back to the end of last season. The Oil Kings’ power play has struck for three goals on 21 chances through the team’s first four games. Lazar leads the team with four goals this season.
The Raiders are coming off Tuesday’s 5-4 shootout victory over the visiting Red Deer Rebels, and have collected seven of a possible eight points from their first four games. The Raiders won their only other road game this year, beating the Blades in Saskatoon on opening weekend. McNeill picked up his first two goals of the season on Tuesday night versus Red Deer.
It’s the first meeting of the season between the Raiders and Oil Kings. The Oil Kings won all four meetings versus the Raiders last season, and own a 12-1-1-2 record versus Prince Albert over the last five seasons.
