Photo by CJ Relke BLAZERS SHUT DOWN ROYALS – Cole Cheveldave turned aside all 22 shots he faced to earn his first shutout of the season as the visiting Kamloops Blazers blanked the Victoria Royals 3-0 in Western Hockey League action on Sunday.
Brady Gaudet and Rob Trzonkowski each tallied their first goals of the season and Colin Smith also scored for the Blazers (3-0-0-1), who outshot the Royals 39-22 in the contest as they pick up three of a possible four points from their two-game set in Victoria.
Jared Rathjen turned aside 36 of 39 shots he faced to absorb the loss for the Royals (3-1-0-0), who suffer their first defeat of the season.

GIANTS 3, CHIEFS 2
Trevor Cheek scored the go-ahead goal 14:07 into the third period as the Vancouver Giants edged the visiting Spokane Chiefs 3-2 on Sunday.
Nathan Burns and David Musil also scored and Brett Kulak chipped in two assists for the Giants (1-3-0-0), who limited the Chiefs to just 15 shots on net en route to posting their first victory of the season. Tyler Fuhr made 13 saves to record his first WHL victory.
Mike Avian and Mitch Holmberg – with his fifth goal of the season – scored for the Chiefs (2-1-0-0), who scored both of their goals on the power play. Mac Engel made 21 saves in a losing cause.
