Chris Mast EVERETT – The Everett Silvertips today announced the acquisition of a fifth-round pick in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft from the Tri-City Americans in exchange for second-year forward Ryan Chynoweth. The move leaves Everett with 14 forwards, eight defensemen and three goaltenders on a 25-man current roster.
Chynoweth, 17, was pointless in four games for the Silvertips this season. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound center scored two goals and assisted on six others in 66 appearances as a 16-year-old rookie last season. In 71 career WHL games dating back to the 2010-11 season, Chynoweth has compiled eight points (2g/6a), 47 penalty minutes and a -18 plus/minus rating. The Cranbrook, British Columbia native was one of Everett’s two second-round selections (#24 overall) in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft.
The Silvertips open a six-game road trip through the WHL’s East Division Friday at 5:30 pm Pacific time against the Brandon Wheat Kings. Everett will then make five stops in Saskatchewan before returning home to face the Spokane Chiefs on Friday, October 26 and the Seattle Thunderbirds on Saturday the 27th in our fourth annual “Pink the Rink” game to raise money for the fight against breast cancer.
Season tickets, mini-game packages and single-game tickets for the Silvertips' 10th Anniversary season at Comcast Arena are on sale now. For more information call 425-252-5100.
